What is Art REX Designs?

Art REX Designs specializes in unique and original artwork which can be used for a variety of venues, including designs for logos, web banner ads, clothing, comic book artwork and tattoos.  My style can range from detailed stylizations to simple cartoons.  I can also create dynamic images in 3-D, just like in popular films from PIXAR studios.

Do you do printing?

At this time, I cannot perform any kind of print work.  However, Art REX Designs can work with any printing outfit of your choice and create your design in any file type required for the printing process.

I’ve seen your cool van driving around the city of Mobile.  Where did you get it done?

While I designed most of the wrap myself, a lot of the work for Art REX Designs’s “dino-van” was done at the Intelligent Design Studio.  I created the T. rex, the gecko and the robot digitally in 3-D, and the studio created the text, background, and printed all of the vinyl.  It was a joint effort to wrap the vehicle.

Do you design vehicle wraps yourself?

At this time, I do not design full vehicle wraps.  One reason is that, as mentioned above, I cannot do any printing.  Another reason is that many wraps require more than one person, and being a freelance artist, I do not possess the man-power to complete the wrapping process.

On occasion, I can create designs for partial wraps or just large decals.  This mostly varies on the complexity of the project.

Do you design websites?

No, I do not do web design.  I am, for most intensive purposes, a graphic designer.  Web design is an entirely different field than designing graphics.  If you are looking for someone to design a website for you, I suggest you find a web designer.

Who designed your website?

This website was created by Roc Davis Productions.

Do you create t-shirt designs?

Yes, I can create original designs for t-shirts and other clothing.  However, as mentioned before, I cannot print the shirts myself.

How much do you normally charge for design work?

Any traditional design project (2-D artwork) is charged a minimum flat rate of $250.  This fee covers one business day of design work.  After that fee, each additional hour required to complete the project is $15.

Any 3-D design work is charged a minimum flat rate of $300.  After that fee, each additional hour required to complete the project is $30.

Why does it cost so much for any form of graphic design work?

One word reason is skill.  While the software and media required to perform graphic design work is easy to acquire, the skill to use it with maximum proficiency is not.  It can take months and even years to develop a strong, professional understanding of programs such Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.

Another reason is talent.  Any person can learn to draw over time, but not everyone is born with the talent.  Using Photoshop is one thing, but drawing detailed illustrations by hand is pure talent, plain and simple.

Going hand-in-hand with talent is personal style.  Each artist has his or her own unique style that sets them apart from every other artist.  Three different artists can draw the same subject, but each will most assuredly do so with their own “twist.”

So when you pay for a professional artist to do work for you, you are paying for the skill they have honed over the years, the innate talent they possess, and the unique style that they inject into every piece of art they create.

Do you have an office, studio, or shop?

As a freelance artist, I operate out of my home, and consequently, do not have a business office.

How do I get in contact with you?

The fastest way to contact me is via cell phone.  The number is 251-604-5225.

However, if you have a detailed description of the project you envision, the best way to communicate this is via email, especially if you have attached images or documents you wish for me to see.  My email is MDCrabtreeArtist@gmail.com.  I strive to respond to emails within 24 hours.
